This season, Cotton On’s best selling menswear jean – the Skinny Straight Leg, has an exciting update as it’s transformed from stretch denim fit into a 90s inspired, rigid cut. Available in seven vintage style washes, the new 91 Rigid Skinny Straight Leg pays homage to the iconic skate and grunge culture that dominated the first part of the decade. All washes have been inspired by the natural wear patterns that create an authentic 90s denim look.
In a first for Cotton On, the brand is proud to offer two Selvedge options as part of the updated 91 Rigid Skinny Straight Leg. The Selvedge styles will retail at R849 and are made from Rigid Premium 13 ounce Selvedge denim, with craftsmanship techniques that were originally used when denim was first woven in the 1870s. Due to this unique construction, Cotton On’s Selvedge denim is more durable and hard wearing. These jeans are designed to be turned up at the cuff highlighting the quality Selvedge finish and feature additional Selvedge detailing on the fly, back pocket and belt loops.
The styles include:
Rigid Summer Blues: reminiscent of early 90s LA surfer culture, these light blue jeans feature extreme rip and fray distressing across the waist and lower legs of the jean
Rigid Selvedge Dirty Worn Blues: these faded mid blue jeans include small patches of distressing and natural fray along the waist and thighs
Non-Selvedge styles of the 91 Rigid Skinny Straight will retail at R649 and are the ultimate throwback to the street style trend that 90s denim dressing is famous for. There is something for every denim lover with a range of colourways available, from worn black to bleached blue. Each jean features varying scales of distressing, with hand applied finishes including primary colour paint splatter, abrasion across the legs and waist and whiskering.
