Back in 2011, Adidas South Africa’s skateboard team traveled to the city of Maputo, Mozambique to shoot a video montage for the brand.
Its great to finally see Maputo being portrayed in a positive way – both the rural and urban environments were perfect for the South African and Mozambican skaters to do their thing. What we also love about the video is the strong sense of ‘African-ism’ which is clearly displayed – shot by Africans for Africans.
You’d be surprised at the active role skating plays in a place like Maputo, which is usually depicted as an old, dirty and underdeveloped city. This beautiful place is a goldmine for these kind of sports as the terrain allows for perfect skating conditions.
Check out the video above and see what Maputo had to offer in the world of skating.
